Nice-looking collection. Are you going to work on upgrading it?

Yep! that is the plan.. It is easier to work on it when I can see it in a fine album.

My newest Buffalo nickel: 1913 Type 1: The first of many to be upgraded from very worn down to BU (or as near as I can find them)

I somehow missed this topic! Anytime a set can move from a Whitman folder to a Dansco album is a time to celebrate!

I inherited my grandpa's partial Whitman set. It's pretty solid from 1920 on, but I haven't added anything to it. I can see that you have the same problem with your Whitman though. The coins fall out of the holes easily, and you have to be very careful opening it. Cents and dimes are fine, but nickels are terrible for some reason.

I always like seeing complete Buffalo sets myself... Just thinking of my complete set, but mine are all in 2x2's and not in a Dansco album (got lucky on a few of mine as in awesome deals like $1.00 for a F-12 19-D, and $35.00 for VF-25 26-S...) Me like your 1913 Type-1 Good luck finding the ridiculous hard ones in high grade, aka 13-D,S type-2, 14-D, 15-S, 17-S, 19-D, 21-S, 23-S, 24-S, 26-S...

That 1913 is a beauty! IMHO, this design is THE most uniquely American of all. Of all the coin sets I assembled, during the last millennium, Buffalo nickels were my favorite. I did manage to assemble one set with full tip horns, but my main pursuit was assembling well-matched, fine-plus sets with sharp, full dates and half to two-thirds' horns.

Quote: but my main pursuit was assembling well-matched, that is my goal as well but in BU (if possible) or AU if available. While I'm searching out these nickels, I'll be upgrading my early quarter set (From 1932 to 1999) I already have 1968 to 1999 in Uncirculated BU condition still in the mint cello, just need to open them and photograph them first and get them into my Dansco album. So look for that in my Quarter set. (see link in my signature)
