Maybe it was your thread that started me looking for the best strikes of the buffalo I could find. Here's the best. A 1915-P.

So-I-Finally-Dipped-Into-My-Safe-And-Dug-Out-My-Buffalo-Nickel-Set

I've thought about getting one of the proofs. But it would only be a marginal improvement at ten times the price.

Odd. On my iPhone screen the 1915 image is the same size as yours.

oops - that is a typo - should read 1913-S I stuck on getting the 1937-S too... (I went back and fixed that typo) thanks for noticing it before I couldn't fix it anymore.

I wouldn't have been surprised if there were different types of later issued Buffaloes. I expect we will see things like that in the future. Thanks for the clarification.

My taste in Buffalo nickels has changed over the years and I generally pursue only well-struck examples like others have pointed out. The exception is the two-feather varieties where I'm OK with undamaged coins with readable dates. Thanks for sharing your beautiful set!
