Don't be overly disappointed. The mint workers sifted and handled the coins with their bare hands well into the early 1980s.
For example, when I open a mint-sealed bag, about 15% of the coins have fingerprints and streaks on them. I actually pull those out and deposit them at face value, when sorting through a mint bag.
Rolls directly from the mint did not happen until 1983 to 1984. Before then, coins left the mint in bags, and either banks or security companies like Brinks opened the bags and produced the paper "shotgun" rolls.
