The devices on the reverse is a normal RDV-005 reverse. The RDV-006 devices are different in shape than the RDV-005 normal devices:

The difference? Rounded and flat shaped devices on the AME area on the reverse. Yours is the rounded devices. (RDV-005 normal for that year) The RDV-006 were the devices on the reverse for the 1989-1992 cents. The 1993 year had the RDV-007 reverses:

The 1988 and 1992 had examples of "Year Varieties" on the reverse design.

So the 1992 is another year to watch for the change over. (A few of the 1992 cents had the RDV-007 reverses)

That is really what the 1988-1989 change over was.
Not on the obverse, but on the reverses. Hope this helps.

CoopHome: What are the change over years for the 1988 and 1992 cents? RDV-005 was normal for the 1988 cents. some were RDV-006. Same event happened on the 1992 cents with the RDV-007 dies that was to happen on the 1993 cents. (All the 1993 cents including proofs were RDV-007 designs) know the differences will help train your eyes.

Right, so I think what Coop is saying is that your 88 coin has the normal 88 RDV-005 (the G on FG) and not the 89 RDV-006 with the different G, which would be rare. Is that what you are asking?
