A lamination happens on a copper or Silver coin. This is a clad coin. So it is not a lamination issue on this clad coin. Looks like coin wear and contact marks from the reeds on another quarter coin.

i dont know whats happening on this coin. looks like damage of some sort to me but I really cant tell.

i do not agree with what you are saying coop. laminations can happen in nickel. they are very common in some of the earlier US nickel series.

i think they can exist in any metal. they are much better at alloying metal today than they were in the past so you dont see them as often.
