It's definitely Armenian. The script is Armenian and the guy is wearing a Phrygian cap.
I tried to translate the lettering, but almost every letter looks like a U. The three letters before 1500 mean AD, so it should be the year 1500. If that's the case, it's not the Armenian calendar, since they haven't got to 1500 yet.
Google translate keeps trying to say the word on the left of the obverse is 'Oh my God!', and in capitals, which is a bit unnerving. It does the same for the word on the right of the reverse (which does appear to be almost the same). Trialing different letters, the only translation I can get out of it is:
OH MY GOD! AD1500

MAY DAY
I'm wondering whether 'May Day' is a reference to labour day, or the Armenian National Day, or given the rest of the translation, perhaps a distress signal.
