Texas Rattlers Collection March 11. Over 500 High Grade PCGS Rattlers.
2024, March 11

Heritage Auctions - The Texas Rattler Collection is a single-owner collection of coins in old holders, so-called because of the "Rattler" nickname of the very oldest PCGS holders. While this selection of primarily Morgan dollars has been certified by PCGS, NGC, and ANACS, the vast majority - more than 500 coins - are in the first-generation PCGS holders that give this collection its name. The remainder of the offerings can be found in first-generation ANACS holders, "fatty" NGC holders, and both Green label and Doily label PCGS holders. Bidding on these coins is ongoing, with the live session scheduled for Monday, March 11 at 4 PM CT.

Texas-Rattlers-Collection-March-11.-Over-500-High-Grade-PCGS-Rattlers.
1882-CC $1 MS65 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. PCGS Population: (391/88). NGC Census: (102/10). CDN: $1,650 Whsle. Bid for NGC/PCGS MS65. Mintage 1,133,000.

While high-grade and pleasingly toned coins abound here, possibly the outstanding coin in this auction is an 1883-S dollar graded MS63 Prooflike by PCGS and housed in a green label holder. The 1883-S dollar is challenging enough in any Mint State grade and especially so with designated Prooflike surfaces. This is one of those scarce high-contrast examples with well-frosted motifs set against boldly reflective fields. Brilliant and sharply struck, the coin is clearly worth a strong bid.

Other treasures represented here include:

1909-S 1C VDB MS64 Red and Brown NGC
1847 50C MS63 PCGS
1941 50C MS67 PCGS
1878 7TF $1 REV 1878 MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS
1882-CC $1 MS65 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS
1890-CC $1 MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS
1899 $1 MS65 Deep Prooflike NGC
1923-D $20 MS64 NGC
