And when I saw the numbers on the 4 straps, I knew I had a radar!!

Then found out that it has the same numbers as the one I found last week!!

I'll preface my post with that I have no interest in serial numbers, but what does a radar do to a note? For example is this note worth more? Will some one on ebay pay more for a "Radar"?

@hfjacinto - Sure this radar note is worth a little more than face value. You can prob sell this note for around $10-$30 or more. I also depends on the condition of the note too which is in excellent condition. The other one that I found last week is in pretty bad condition.

great find, not just a radar but matching radars, it's cool to find two bills that are related to each other but not out of the same brick

Can you explain why would anyone pay over face value for these?

There are 10's to 100's of thousands of these in each print run, multiplied by 12 Federal Reserve Bank and you are talking millions. These are not rare in any sort of way.

They are not even hard to find as you show with your post, so why collect or even look for these?

radar notes are rarer than non-radar notes, so those who collect notes would rather have a radar note

hfjacinto, some serial number combinations are rare to find and so they command a premium to collectors. The odds that a random note will be a radar is 1 in 10,010. So the rarer ones are fancy serial numbers that appeal to collectors. http://www.coolserialnumbers.com/Ho...lNumbers.pdf

@datadragon

Your numbers are a little misleading. There are 12 federal reserve banks each can order a print therefore for the first printing (suffix A) there are ~120,000 repeaters. I doubt there are ~120,000 collectors that want repeaters. And again thst's only for suffix A, this continues for the next printing. So you have 8 printings which on $1 is not strange and you are at ~1,000,000 repeaters. Hence not rare. And then you have different series dates..

Now if this was serial 0000 0001 then I can see paying a premium.

I collect notes and the below is more collectible than a radar note.

Last I checked, I could not locate a pmg graded 1896 silver certificate in either my pocket change or bank straps.. but I'll keep searching Searching for these type of serial numbers on notes is on a different level than paying for collectible currency like the educational note and some get enjoyment from finding it themselves rather than paying for something - enjoy collecting whatever you want - rare or not!
