Here's a 1794 Large Cent that I acquired a long time ago when I was just starting to collect classic U.S. coins. Is this a coin worth submitting, and what sort of grade do you think it would garner? Thanks!

in order to probably assess the coin we cant grade this one through the holder. try this for best photo and resubmit

1. remove coin from holder if possible
2. turn off flash
3. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day. Use a black or white background to avoid any reflective color
4. move phone about 3in from coin
5. zoom in using your fingers until the coin comes into focus and fills the camera
6. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin at that distance and lay phone on top. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blurring

I'll say VF details (severe ED).

S-54. R-3.

VG details heavily corroded. outside shot of fine details but it has enough environmental problems that the letters and numbers dont matter much. you can read the date and it has a reverse.

personally I wouldnt submit it but I think a lot of people would. if its something you are looking to sell it wont sell for enough extra in a slab to make your slab fees back. if its for your own collection do whatever makes you happy.

I'd have been at F - VF if it wasn't for the horrendous corrosion. Maybe a metal detector find, looks like it had been buried for 200 years.

those early copper planchets are common to have corrosion but this one is excessive. I'm not sure it would even grade. the photos are way better. if they would put a grade on it I would think VF details (ED/Corrosion). even at P01 the coin has value but I would not put in my collection other than to fill a hole. I dont think i'd slab it as its not really going to make a difference in value
