I have a 1965 P Quarter. I believe it is DDD. Please correct me if I am wrong. Finally, I think the knowledge is sinking in. Thank you to all those who have been helping me on my learning process.

Extreme die wear and Machine Doubling. Extreme die wear always towards the direction of the closest rim. Machine Doubling is in the direction/directions of how loose the machine was and altered the devices after the strike, reducing the size of the devices removing the contour of the devices. Not a doubled die.

I agree, Machine Doubling.
Please always show us the entire coin, both sides. Thanks.

I will like to see the reeds and also to know the weight if it is possible. Something wrong with this coin, why the high parts have this texture?. If we polish and re-polish the die, we do not re-polish high relief and also in the photo montage I done, right high it is the normal coin at MS67 and the others are OP coin.

All the series in 1965 has the I in IN larger and low relief this coin seem not.

So pic with the Reeds, weight and Reverse please, then I will conclude, I tend to see a transitional coin if real.
