Please remove coins from holders before taking photos when possible. Also make sure to flatten those staples. John1

I would say that is a fake, mushy, granular surfaces that look cast, and what appears to be some kind of base metal showing through.

I say fake too, but for this one, you should be able to confirm it because it should have an incorrect weight.

@don, first welcome to CCF. Second, as noted above, the details are a bit mushy. Any chance you could give us a much more precise weight on this piece? Thx.

I will try to find a scale that will give me an accurate weight. The scale I have only does rounded grams and jumps from 7-8 grams.

Invest in a good scale that reads down to 0.001 grams. John1

Better photos would help. To me it looks like this coin was in the ground, for some time

Thanks all for the responses and help on this! I wanted to be at least "somewhat certain" before I wasted time or money sending it in for at a minimum authentication. I will get some better photos and provide feedback on the weight ASAP.

Hey Guys (and Gals)! Update, hope this helps the process of figuring this out. Here are some better photos not in the holder, let me know if these are good. ALSO, I was able to get an accurate weight on the coin and it has weighed out at 6.37 Grams. Thanks in advance!

Still looks cast to me, and the weight is very low.

Do you no think the weight is associated to the condition and wear?

I think it is just a cast counterfeit. Have you checked the edge for a seam?
