what is going on with this quarter planchet? An error or did someone tamper with the coin? It weighs the same as a quarter...was it just exposed to some type of chemical? Cool find or someone mean out there that messed with a coin & my mind? Hehe

Looks like a buried coin, maybe a metal detector find.

Not a mint error coin, environmental chemical exposure/damage post mint. Looks similar to a "cup holder" coin where a coin sits in the bottom of a car's coffee/ drink holder and is subject to sometimes years of coffee and/or acidic soft drinks spills a over time, the harsh chemicals damage the coin. Such forgotten coins are no longer of any numismatic value. Spend it and forget it and keep searching!
