Hi never done this before so sorry if I make any mistakes I just need some help possibly identifying this coin.
So I have a 1970 D American Penny and it is discolored and weighs only 2.35 Grams an oppose to its 3.11 Grams counterpart
I've done research into it and I suspect it could be struck on a clad planchet instead of its normal copper one.
I appreciate any help and insight given and would love to hear if you guys think this is worth getting graded possibly ?
Thank you

@gen, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes a view of the edge would be nice, but this looks like a cent that has spent time in an acid bath to me.

Yes, I'm thinking exposure to an acidic environment--which has removed metal, which has resulted in causing the coin to be 'lighter'.

Thanks for the welcome
I tried to get the best pictures I could
The coin on the left in each photo is the one weighing 2.35grams and on the right is a normal 3.11 gram Penny
Acid huh never would've guess I was weighing 82s and 83s and stumbled on this because of how light it was
One side is more detailed than the other so I can't say it isn't possible
Hope the pictures help thank you in advance!

Excellent photos. It is an acid bath coin. Since the acid eats away at all things equally, the devices tend to stay quite visible but get thinner. Notice how thin many of the letters are. Also the acid eats the outer edge as well, so the coin's rim slowly disappears and ends up looking like a thin ring around the coin instead of a normal thick rim. These are pretty common and easy to notice once you've seen a couple.

Genesisx12,
