The perfunctory eagle on the reverse of the Franklin was included to satisfy Congress. But yes, it's pathetic.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I don't compare types of coins against one another. I have a full set of Ben Franklins, mostly AU, MS or Proofs. The nicer coin, the better when it comes to Franklins. The cracked bell is the Liberty bell. The little eagle on the reverse is not attractive. Overall, I enjoy the history of the coins and Ben Franklin was an interesting man. So, I do like the Franklins. They are very collectible in the Numismatic market and re-sale is pretty darn good as well.

Quote: What a difference when they went from Franklin's head directly to JFK's! The hair shifted from the neck and shoulders to the crown. Quote: I wonder if Mamie would've complained had we been graced with an accented hair Ike?

The Franklin half is far from my favorite coin type, but as mentioned by others I do find untoned cameo proof examples very appealing.

Quote: Not everyone gets to be JFK. JFK with enhanced hair - Frank and Ike with enhanced bald?

I love both Ike's and Kennedy's. Maybe just easier for my old eyes. LOL

Too new, too simple, not artistic. Not ugly though, just unattractive. Quote: We get engraved with hair we have, not the hair we wish we had!
Not everyone gets to be JFK. Well we could avoid this conflict and bring back Miss Capped Bust and enjoy the lovely locks of high relief hair.

I've got a Franklin with some nice album toning in a typeset, really enjoy that one. I will eventually do a Dansco 7165 set of them.

Hey, I like Franklins a lot! I can't decide whether the Franklin or the Walker is my favorite design as far as halves go.

I know that I said I don't compare coins but, "Dearborns" post got me to thinking. Yes, Churchill is ugly! Why I acquired this coin is beyond me now...maybe because he's an historical figure.
