It's an old slab, so the coin has survived (apparently) intact for many years already. But is there is a risk in leaving it in such an old slab? Would there be a greater risk in having it reholdered? No doubt the bidder is pondering these issues.

Heres a nice article on his collecting history from 2008 https://www.PCGS.com/News/Stewart-B...-For-QualityThe Stewart Blay Collection, described by auctioneers as the top assemblage of Canadian King George V cents, will cross the block south of the border this February. 2023. Blay purchased each coin one at a time by attending coin shows around the United States "and hunting down the best of the best," according to a statement issued by GreatCollections. Few knew he also focused on Canadian small cents for the past 30 years. All are graded by PCGS and most still reside in the old-style holders, graded in the 1990s and early 2000s," said GreatCollections President Ian Russell. "It's almost unheard of to have 75 per cent of a series in finest known or tied for finest, and even those coins not graded numerically as the finest, the coins have amazing eye-appeal and appear conservatively graded. Stewart is a connoisseur for quality." GreatCollections will also auction Blay's U.S. Lincoln Cent collection over three auctions this month. Five of the coins already have bids exceeding $100,000 US, including the 1958 "Doubled Die" variety, currently bid at $323,000 US. https://canadiancoinnews.com/stewar...for-auction/

.... honey, I'll go ahead and take care of paying all the bills this month including the credit card bills like american express so just leave them unopened in a pile all for me... Thanks, but last time you did that , you spent a lot of money on something big. What did you buy? I promise it wasnt much...only one graded Lincoln Cent for my collection.

i wonder if they would grade it 69 again if the same coin were cracked out and resubmitted raw.
would they give it a 70 if it were resubmitted in the holder?
this is the most extreme example of the markets faith in PCGS grading consistency ive ever seen.

Tough to think about on a "normal" level, some paid $375k for ONE CENT. As a Lincoln collector I often have left a show or dealer ultimately thinking: "I walked in with $500 and walked out with 18 cents."
