We have a world coin dealer who always attends our Fresno coin show. Once in a while he has something that catches my eye. In this case, it was my wife's eye. She really liked this piece so it came home with us.

I see the reverse photo is a bit out of focus. Hopefully it's good enough to evaluate the coin. Any thoughts about grade, rarity, quality, or whatever?

Should weigh in at 4.1 or 4.2 grams with gold 0.9167 as for grade might need another person for this guessing MS or high Au.

Gold is soft; there is some wear on the leaves above George's ear.
Reverse better. Some residual luster in the legends.
British grade would be good VF, (mainly driven by obverse).
Sheldon split grade AU-53 (obv), AU-58 (rev).

1813 date is a one year type, and somewhat scarce, and commands a small premium above other half Guineas of later dates of George 111.

Hmmmm, not a lot of interest for this coin on the forum. Maybe it's not as nice a piece as I thought....

It is graded MS-63 in an old greenish-label PCGS slab. In-hand, luster is very bright near the rims and slightly muted (but intact) across the fields. The frosty surfaces across the portrait are blemish-free. Grade seems limited only by small contact marks.

If this is a good-VF coin per British grading I wonder what a mint state piece would look like.

Jaobler, it's a beautiful coin and a wonderful addition to your collection.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

It's a great coin, and the first half guinea I have looked at. Thanks for sharing.
