Any thoughts? Did someone rub away the Peace or just wear? Or maybe a rare variety worth a megabajillion?

The abnormal wear on the legs & talons leads me to suspect this coin was subject to localized grinding/buffing in that area - including removing the PEACE legend.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Or possibly Struck Through Grease since the area of the reverse directly opposite, at LIBERTY's head, seems to be well struck.

Lots of Reed Marks showing up on both sides. Struck Through Grease is certainly possible.

My first thought is some poorly executed, heavy buffing to intentionally remove the "Peace" to show it as an error coin.

Thanks! The Greaser variant hadn't occurred to me! Was thinking it was just someone's hijinks!
