Does the nine on this coin seem out of place? I've looked at photos on line and the nine here seems noticeably higher than the norm. Thank you for your time.

I agree. Date numerals were individually punched on the dies so there is often some variation in coins of this period.

Here is my 1819 halfcrown for comparison:

Thanks Numismatic. I think there is a 9/8 variety on this date and the nine is higher on this variety, but I don't see any 8 below that nine.
