I was considering purchasing this nickel because of the strong clashing (motto under the chin, belly of Buffalo on face, and some small other transfers) and could use some help one grade.

I was between AU58 and MS64 (due to a weaker strike) and leaning towards AU58. What are your thoughts?

Understand your dilemma. I wouldn't feel comfortable paying this kind of price for a raw coin.
Rest in Peace

I'm not a fan of clashing at all but I think the coin is MS-64 . Looks strong strike to me .

the glare off the high point on the coin could be hiding some slight circulation but I think its MS and I agree with the others. MS64.

the coin has a 60 days return

the problem here is the current bid of $233 is assuming its at least MS64. if you look at sales of slabbed MS64 coins over the past couple months. several were in the $275 range. an NGC coin sold for $218 and more recent NGC sold for $107!!!

I'm going to bet its going to hammer at more than that and if you wanted to confirm the grade you would need to add the slabbing costs on top of that. imo its overpriced right now

I bowed out in the low $200s. I think they overpaid.
