I have it in the mid VF range. It could just be your photos but the coin looks to have been cleaned. Again, could be your photos or lighting.

Appears genuine and cleaned. I agree it has VF+ detail. I'd guesstimate this piece is worth $100 as-is and not worth grading.

VF Details Polished/Cleaned
The coin is not showing hairlines in the photo, but on reverse the upper half has a shinny look that happens when a coin has a high speed polish. If you place the coin under light and tilt back and forth, you should see fine hairlines that move in direction with light reflection.

the lighting in the photos is causing some glare enough to not be able to discern surface originality. the field surrounding PLURIBUS has a dull yellow tone. one marker for a cleaning. another marker is the dirt around the stars from K4-K8 appears to have been cleaned or wiped. it also has the same look on the reverse surrounding ONE DOLLAR.
VF30 Details (cleaned)
a sale of a VF30 details coin graded by ANACS sold for $250 a year ago. I dont think that was something you can point at for a comp. A PCGS VF30 straight just sold for $193. I think BH1964 is pretty close in his value of $100. keep in mind to slab a single coin at PCGS would cost about that amount after you purchase a subscription, pay the grading fee and shipping and insurance.
put it in an airtight holder

I'll say VF details (cleaned).

Quote: Please school me on why you think its been cleaned. It's a 130 year old piece of circulated silver alloy. It is shiny, a sign of polishing or heavy wiping with a cloth, but does not show hairlines which is good. It does not appear harshly cleaned. Also note small amounts of dirt/patina in protected areas but not on larger, open surface areas.

Quote: but on reverse the upper half has a shinny look that happens when a coin has a high speed polish This is incorrect. The upper halves of the coin are being directly reflected by the overhead lighting. Those sections are no more polished than the rest of the coin.

Quote: It does not appear harshly cleaned just because its not harshly cleaned doesn't mean it wasnt cleaned. dipping a coin does not result in any discernable hairlines and even wiping the coin may not either the lighting/glare in these photos is not helping. I think I explained the markers as to why I think the coin was cleaned

VF 30 details , old cleaning . Would likely bring 100 to 125 . And likely very quickly at that price . Still quite a decent piece for someone who wishes to put an economy set together .
