Found this roll hunting a few weeks ago, too bad it has some purposeful scratches on the front. Think it is real? Thanks!

This appears to be a struck through something like string. If it were metal there would be definite ends.

This does not, so I feel this is string.

Depending on the string, sometimes you can see twist on the string that shows on the victim coin.

Thanks coop, I think I can see the twist pattern slightly with the coin in hand, but it is faint. I guessed struck through string because I can see the end of it and it looks slightly frayed. I can see the individual strings on the end imprinted in the metal.

Nice find. Too bad about the obverse graffiti though.
