Besides an informational post on this forum, I have not seen this coin posted or discussed much.

I have not seen too many of these around.

Minted in Philadelphia on Peace dollar planchettes...at least that's my understanding.

Curious what everyone thinks and if anyone has a example so I can compare wear.

I like the coin although it's decidedly spartan in design.

Go to Google Images: 'Cuba silver Peso' for some comparison images.

@sel, I saw the diagnostics on the 1915 peso. I did not see those diagnostics on my coin... Am I missing something?

I will Google image other examples, just thought it might be interesting to see other collectors emails since I rarely post threads like that.

Although OP's coin is worn, it looks genuine to my eye.

Thanks @sel. I think I've gotten better at diagnostics. I ran a four point diagnostic on this coin in addition to weight (slightly under at 26.29), diameter, and ping. I figured at €40 it was worth it after it passed those checks.

I don't know about the year-to-year consistency of this type, but for many coins the details vary from year to year as different dies are used. It is much better to compare to another 1932 to determine whether the coin is genuine than to compare with a 1915.

@bjh...I did my comparison based on three examples of 1932 in peso coins listed on ma-shops. I used the 1915 diagnostics to look for common signs of forgery. In addition to weight, diameter, ping, and loupe.

Hi again,''Roma2021''!

Please, tell me: Why are you so suspicious?! I know that fakes are everywhere around us but ...you are faceing another for sure genuine silver coin. The only problem your cuban 1932 peso has is that it is used in circulation down to a F15-VF20 grade(my opinion!). There are no signs of forgery.
Additionaly,I haven't seen you speaking about the ''magnet test'' you should always perform on silver/gold coins close to the start of your ''analysis''.
Back to your 1932 Peso, the minting weight should have been 26.73g.; Yours,of 26.29g. is perfectly normal for an used in circulation coin (so,with some wear).
''See you'' at your next doubtful coin!
Andi

P.S.: Most of the 1915 cuban peso coins are of same design but of the ''high relief star'' variety. 15 years later the peso started to be minted ONLY in the ''low relief star'' variety. 1932 peso is among the last one variety.

@andi, I live in Rome, Italy. Nearly all of the coins I find I find at used markets in lots. This means I am often paying 10% of retail; or I am able to buy a box of coins, sell most and keep a few making the purchase a net profit with some coins for my own collection; it is very VERY much buyer beware here.
For instance, the Ethiopian coin I posted on another thread I found in a collection I paid €34 for. I sold some late Roman bronze coins for €55 and the rest for about €10. This means I made about €30 and kept that coin. I see other similar collection with loads of fakes, designed to deceive fakes... And I've seen A LOT of examples of the birr that were fake.
In a week, I will often see a dozen fake Morgans and countless fake ancients. At the prices I am buying things, it's worth the risk and I've mostly gotten very lucky. I've posted more about this under my other threads.

Genuine examples of Cuban Pesos of this date have same specs as standard US silver dollars, and so should also have the same ping tone.
