Is This Considered An Error 1903 Penny?

Second, I think that you are asking why the denticles are still partially visible on one side but not the other. As the rims wear, this feature become flatter and flatter. On your cent, I suspect that the reason for this pattern of wear being a bit uneven is not a mint error. Hypothetically, this might have been a tapered planchet, but that seems much less likely to me. lcutler Pillar of the Community United States 1657 Posts	Posted 01/21/2023 04:50 am The dies may have been slightly tilted causing an uneven strike, or it may be from wear. No way to say for sure with a coin with this much wear, and would be an extremely minor issue even if it was struck this way. Unfortunately, the shiny copper color is a bad thing. On a coin of this age and condition it indicates that it has been cleaned, if natural, it would be more of a chocolate brown. Report this Post to the Staff
