This 1996 P dime is knarled. Is it post mint damage?! That's the big question. I found one almost identical on ebay selling for 1000.00 dollars claiming it to be a mint errors. Freakishly identical. Except it was a 1999. Don't member the mint tho. Idk. Thoughts please? Thank you. I believe its a possible mint error because if you look above his ear there is a die crack goin upward thru his head. Also that all the lettering is fully intacted. Hmmmm... Curious to me.

Think about the minting process. That would never allow a coin to look this way. PMD

Yeah.. thinkn of the minting process I'm not coming up with an actual exact cause of how it could get like this. I'm also having a real hard time trying to figure out any means it could of happened. I've tried to replicate the damage with a hammer against different surface and with different hammers. Never was I able to get the metal to displace in such a way. Not even close. No matter what I tried the lettering never looks as it does on the one pictured. You're right tho.. where in the minting process could this of even happened? 🤷 How on earth will be the question as well I spose. also.. there's that die crack from his ear thru his head. So something happened there right

PMD. That mark from the ear through his head looks incuse so also PMD not a crack.A die crack would be raised above the surface.

There are so many ways a coin can get damaged, too many possibilites to say how it happened. The minting process is a pretty straight forward, well documented manufacturing procedure though, and there is just no way for something like this to happen there.

There is absolutely no way a coin could have left the mint in that state - everything that happened here is simply damage. Value is 10 cents.

You should say 'listed' instead of 'selling' because no person with even rudimentary knowledge of coins would be a sucker for that scam.
