What is so special about $1.00 notes with a star at the end of the serial number? And, what does it mean if there is a * at the beginning of the serial number?
Star note are replacement notes for notes that the BEP has messed up while printing them, the * indicates a replacement note.On old notes the * is at the beginning of the serial number and on modern notes it's at the end.Hope this helps some. They print way fewer star notes then regular notes, that's what makes them special.
