well I received some information on my 1902 Large National Bank Note and 1917 large sized note.. I sent a picture of both sides For the 5 Currency house offered me 575... I sent it to heritage and they offered 625... For the 2 Dollar note Currency house offered to pay me 100 for the Note if they could buy the 5 also.. and Heritage offered 75 on that note... Pictures. NOW my question is to you guys what would you do... I was thinking of selling and using the money to buy a pre 1930's gold piece... Now I am thinking if there willing to pay me that for it it must be worth more Would you guys take the money and run or hold on to them for a little longer waiting on economy to turn back around?/

Well, in a downwards economy, cash is king... so if you need the money, then go ahead.
But when the economy does turn around, I bet these would be worth more.
:( I was going to buy that $2 for $75... :(

I personally think this Nat'l Banknote is more interesting than the V Indian one...
I wonder if the Currency House does trades...

What kind of grade did they give it....I am on Paper Values online price guide...looking at the 1902 $5 note there are different categories....
From what I can tell this is National Currency of the Third Charter Period and the price range for Fine is from $235 to $825...It depends on the No. and I am not sure how to tell that?
I could be looking at the complete wrong thing...not sure. It is a sweet bill...I would love to have that in my collection

I told them I thought the note was in fine condition and he said he agreed with me.. That was the currency house.. I honestly dont know where they are getting there numbers from I have a RedBook on currency and it said three different issues of these notes where made. 1st one being the rarest with red seal 2nd one being like mine but having something wrote on the back 3rd one like mine I assume with the plain picture I honestly think the value is coming from the bank it was issued at.. I read somewhere, where the southern state notes were a little more rare b/c they were not as populated.. which I dont think is very big even today

I just checked in the fifth edition of the Kelly book and the Lawrenceville charter 9433 $5 plainback is listed at $1250. I wouldn't sell it to Heritage.

I remember buying large size and national currency in super conditions and letting them go in the early 80's for an embarrassing price thinking my money would do better in metals. Times were a little tough so I paid some bills too. Now the prices paper currency is getting seems to be 300% of what it was back then. Maybe it is at a good time to sell, I do not know but I would hold on hard to my very best condition horse blankets and sell the lower grade if I made the choice to do it now. Only problem is .... I did that a long time ago and could just kick my own butt sometimes when I think of it. Those old pieces of paper are so neat to look at. If I went to a coin show and found a paper currency dealer with a lot of inventory, I could spend a half a day just looking at his stuff alone. Keep your best. That's what will do the best ... again.

The prices in the Kelly book are for fine condition. Your note has 3 visible vertical and one horizontal fold and has a little bit of staining on the top just looking at your scan so I would say it should grade fine. For reference, the book says to add or subtract about 25 percent for each grade you go up or down. Also the book I have is the fifth edition and the six edition has recently come out so if you buy a Kelly book look for the sixth edition.

Go to Donckelly.com and buy it direct from them. It's $75, the same price as ebay.
