Am I correct in naming this one? Or is it a Assay Clip? Looks cleaner than the example on error-ref.com

Would there be value in this one if I choose to list it on ebay?

There's also a flat spot at the 6 o'clock mark. But appears to be hit rather than clipped.

Somehow, I'm able to post these pictures now. I tried last night. but every photo after the first gave me a "file too big" error. Though I did nothing just now to resize the photos. It just seemed to work now.
This forum seems extremely finicky in regards to posting photos. Highly irritating!

It was my understanding that the act of clipping was to amass a collection of clipped pieces to later melt down for raw material and resell. Make some extra money from your money. Which is/was an illegal practice. So no added value whatsoever?

What do you mean by "to the CCF!"?

What you are referring to did happen but with precious metals, not copper.

When most post something about a "clip", this is what they are referring to.

Interesting. Thank you.

I showed it to a coin dealer last week and he seemed to like it pretty well and did refer to it as being clipped.

Oh well. I shall move on.

Coinfrog, this is what the OP is referring to, not what we would normally think of as a clipped coin. Gotta read between the lines. LINK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metho...n_debasement

Lol not an Etsy dealer. I think he said he had been there for 20 years and took it over from a friend who had it for 40 years.

Weren't a lot "clipped" deliberately back in the precious metal days? I knew this wasn't a curved clip during the minting process.

I brought this up because up until yesterday, I have never seen a triangular shaped "clip"/snip/cut or Assay clip as I have read.

Here is my Two Cents
It is PMD and you should go back to "that" dealer and see if he wants to buy it from you

Intentional post mint damage. I agree, find a better dealer.
