Question About Die Cracks

Die cracks add premiums only when they are substantial. I do not know if TPG slabs them, maybe ANACS.

To me they are just die events. The dies age go through events, are altered to remove the previous events, but some events can't be fixed. It is up to the mint to determine to retire or continue to use the bad events. Usually Cuds are die life retirement. But die events continue to be used until retirement. To me they are not a collectable, but news go gaga over them. Seasoned variety collectors view these die events as markers. But seems like the graders like to milk the money from slabbers. To me, they are just another day in the collectors world. But across the die events are sometimes listed on die cracks, Cuds and split dies. But those are extreme die events that end the life of those dies. What difference does that make? There will be a limited number of these die event/retirement coins struck. So they are limited events. Others may have hundreds of thousands struck. So they are not a limited die event, but just another working day for most cracked dies.

CoopHome: What is a die event? Are they collectable? If so when are they considered as slab item? the most extreme die events could have value if they are limited in number. but most cracked dies are continued to be used.
