Well, 5th box has been opened and I discovered 1 1945S so a total of 6 War Nickels in 5 boxes. I am going to go through everything I found and then update with a new topic. As I go through 5+ boxes each week I will update the topic.

I like coppernickeldaddy and wheezy have gone through a great multitude of nickels. The most I've found in a box was 6 and the most buffalos was 3. -XoG

I have been searching nickel rolls for about 6 months now you know maybe 20$ worth at a time but I have searched alot maybe 3 boxes worth. And I came across a 1906 liberty head in one of my loose rolls and I thought it was an absolute fluke that never in my life would I find another one. But I was suprised to learn that you guys have found these and Buffalo nickels! I havent found any buffalos, and I'm about to give up and switch over to halves. Is there hope to find buffalos and liberty heads? anymore

Liberty nickels are tough; I found them at an average of one per 4000 rolls. Buffalos were easier, about 1 per 289 rolls (1 per 5 or 6 boxes)

at least half the buffalos found in circulation today are dateless, but these can generally be restored with some ferric acid, like cnd said buffs are tough but much more findable than liberty heads

There is a product available called Nic-A-Date that restores the date; put a drop in the date area and it becomes visible in a few seconds. Some coat the entire ssurface of well-worn Buffaloes with the stuff to completely restore the coin, but it's easy to tell that has been done. Household vinegar also does the trick, but VERY slowly.

I found a Buffalo yesterday in a 100 dollar box of nickels, soaked it in white vinegar and it turned out to be a 1920 plain mm!

I just went through my first of 2 boxes for today. It actually had the most variety of coins I have ever found in one box. 1 no date buffalo, 1 1971 S proof, 1 War Nickel and a 1939s. Overall it was a great box.

I don't get to search boxes all the way over here, but thanks to coppernickeldaddy , I have a pretty good set that I am building on. Jefferson nickles will most likely be my first fully complete US series (unless you consider state series quarters a separate set?).
