Hello, I've been collecting ASEs (bullion, burnished, and proof). I have my bullion in a Dansco album and graded slabs (ms69). I have my burnished and proofs in the OGP. I'm considering moving all of my ASEs into an album to make them easier to view. I found the Lighthouse albums online with ENCAP sheets designed for the ASE capsules. But I cant seem to find any photos of those sheets filled. Does anyone store their ASEs in these albums? Do they work well? Would it be silly of my to pull my bullions from the Dansco album, put them into a capsule, and then into this album? Same question with the slabs. I'm more inclined to sell or keep the slabs . . . Thanks! |

Related question: If you don't store in an album like I described above, how do you store your bullion, burnished, and proof ASEs together?

I understand wanting to have them easier to view. I opt to keep mine in the mint boxes and just store them. If I take them out the boxes will still need to be kept, and don't' want to have all these different things stored. So I have the boxes stored with the capsules in them.
I do have a basic set of bullion collected, ungraded, in EvoCore capsules. Unsure what they'd grade at but quite well. I do go through them and decide what needs upgrading so it's a continuing process (work in progress all the time), I then flip the take-outs and you know, I usually do pretty well finance-wise. The bullion I have in that black Lighthouse storage box. I see they did update the art on it with the type 1 and 2 obverse on it now.

I encapsulate all of my BU ASE's and store them in the ENCAP Sheets. Those are kept in regular 3-ring binders. I like this storing method the best. Easy to insert, store, look at both sides right in the sheets and take them out one at a time. The capsules don't get scratched, etc. Binders are easy for storage. There are also ENCAP's for slabbed coins as well. Edited by dsking

From what I'm reading the OGP capsules are too big for the ENCAP sheets. That's a bummer. I don't like the idea of taking my burnished and proof ASEs out of their capsules and putting into new capsules if I can avoid it. With that said, I like the idea of storing my date set BUs with my burnished and proofs. Has anyone ever used 2x2 sheets or 2x2 trays to store their ASEs in a capsule? If I go that route, then the actual size of the capsules will be somewhat irrelevant (if my proof are in OGP and my BUs are in air tights, for example).

Mine fit perfectly in an Air-Tite 40mm capsule We get all of our supplies from here: https://www.jpscorner.com/I do use fancy little boxes for my OGP coins, such as Proofs. They're separate from my BU's but, close by. Edited by dsking

My Proofs are currently in OGP - slowly getting them graded, but my Bullion and Burnished are going into my Dansco albums.

My bullion is also in an album and it conveniently filled with the original reverse. I guess I will need a new Dansco for the up coming new reverse. I would consider an album for the Burnished set but I'm on the fence on that. As for the proofs I do not want to break up the sets issued from the mint as I believe their value will maintain as sets. I'm getting to that stage in my life where I will need to liquidate or pass down some of my collection so the proofs will stay where they are at.  Edited by muddler

I keep my bullion ASE's in a Dansco album, but keep my proof, burnished, reverse proof, enhanced and other special in an Eagle brand three ring binder with lighthouse brand pages. I had to take all of the ASE's out of the government capsules and put them in lighthouse capsules as the OGP capsules wouldn't quite fit the pages. I like the way it works and looks. For the two that I can't currently afford I used copper rounds as placeholders. Got to say, with over 60 ounces in the binder, it is one heavy sucker.    |

I added 2 extra pages to my Dansco 7181 album to accommodate the Burnished (mint marked) eagles dated from 1986 - 2021 and when finished will hold 54 ounces of silver coins. and my 7182 will hold just about the same someday (as the years pass on).

so on my 7181 album This is the first added page to my album (page 5) as you can plainly see the date for the burnished eagles start at 2006 and skips 09 and 10. I do have a tiny bit of knowledge about the Silver Eagle series. You will also note that it is still empty as I'm back filling the album, now that I'm done collecting all the proof eagles that were minted from start to finish. ('89-2023 so far) (the only burnished eagle coin that will NOT got into this album is my graded 2008 with the reverse of a 2007 - graded at PF69.  Edited by Dearborn
