The 'I' is partially gone and the 'M' is completely gone! Do you think this is an error? And if so, what it's worth?

Going with these photos,most likely a Grease Filled Die with little if any premium.

@mig, yes seems like this dime was struck with some grease in the die, which caused some missing letters in the design. Despite the circulation wear, it is a good example. You could save it until a better example comes around and then spend this one.

Yes, technically it is a mint error. However issues such as the Grease Filled Die are very common and carry no numismatic premium. Value is 10 cents.

But unless 80% or more of the design is missing, there is no premium for these.
