Great pair to study how these errors are made. I wonder how these two coins were kept together? One of those double slabs from PCGS would show them off well I think.
Nice pickup!

That is a fantastic pair of errors - I as well wonder how these were found as a pair post minting? Perhaps someone purchased a bag of cents direct from the mint and made the connection while searching?

I think the last year for getting bags from your bank was 1995. John1

That is a super combo and I agree displaying them together is the best idea. Maybe use two thirds of a 2x2 designed to display Three Cents unless you want to slab them together.

That is a cool set and yes you have to put them together to display.

I think you need to make a BFF necklace charm out of them

Thanks all! I've actually bought a sewn bag from 2000 so I know thay made them at least up to that point. I'm pretty sure that's where something like this comes from, you sort through things and find a couple that match. Would be nice to slab them in a PCGS pairs slab but at $70 per coin plus cost for oversize holder and all the fees would likely be almost $200 to do so. The pair as is is probably only worth somewhere in the $300's so can't see doing that. Would love to have them as a shelf display but not really at that expense.

Pretty sweet! Do you think that this was an 'on-purpose' error, seeing how the pair remained together.

Very doubtful it was on purpose. This happened a lot in 1999 and 2000.
