I just got this at my lcs for$22. I'm not good at grading coin with lots of toning,so help on the grade would be much appropriated.

Lots of wear with a fingerprint. I would say it is VF20.
Might have overpaid a bit but if you like it, that is what matters.

Almost forgot

I'd say its at least EF45. Obverse looks like toning from the photos but the gunk around the letters on Rev looks like there may have been some cleaning at some point. You may not have got a great deal, but for $22 why not.

All that toning can hide a lot but it's certainly higher than VF. To me it looks more like it's AU. Not an easy one to grade accurately without having it in hand though I think.

Due to the toning, its one that would be best inspected in person. If it were my coin, I would give it a quick dip and remove the unattractive toning. Based on what I see, its at least an AU50 coin and could be up to MS64.

I's say AU or better, but it loks like wear above the ear in the hair.

I see a UNC coin. I think the toning and image are hiding the hair detail, especially right above the ear, which I perceive to still be there. For some of the lower grades given, I would expect to see significant wear just below the hair part line and I see none. So...

It looks to me like wear above the ear as well. I have a few high grade 1949 dollars and the details on them look a lot better than what I see in that picture, regardless of toning. I'll give you a couple examples.

1949 $1 MS65

1949 $1 MS67

I know it's possible that with a poor strike the details in the hair can be less than stellar but I still think that particular coin looks more like AU to me.

Toned coins are always hard to grade from photos. My "guess" on this one, AU-55.

I'd grade it ms63 or ms64.

It definitely needs a dip.
