Idk if Die Chips have "stages" or not. But I looked up this penny on a website that has listed Die Chips. And only one listed with a chip in the same exact location. The chip is a little different in size and shape. It's listed on the website as....DC-1c-1983-01R. So what I'm asking is, if Die chips have different 'stages' kinda like die cracks, or Cuds do?

yes, it's in a different location, BUT in a location that is common - this type of chip we call a 'hornets nest' but I think that was on the Jefferson nickel... I can't remember exactly.. someone here will confirm soon.

Yes, that is known as a hornets nest and it's a pretty nice one. (I think some people use "wasp nest" for smaller die chips.)

This forum usually allows links to be posted from "that" website since the site is credible and is used by collectors.

Your coin looks like it might be an earlier stage of DC-1c-1983-02R. So to answer your question they do have stages for these varieties.
Congrats.

ps. I see a note from 2020 on the site I haven't seen before and thought I'd share.
"Special Note
Die Chips are no longer listed on this site unless they are in an unusual location.

Effective January 2020 Die Chips will be listed as (DC). Any Die Chip that was listed before January 2020 has been changed from an Interior Die Break (IDB) to a Die Chip (DC)"
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I am glad to see this, because a Die Chip it is just a Die Deterioration and not a variety or error and no collecting interest.

It is a die event and when it is a large size or in a unique location it is collectable. Not worth big money though.

They are progressive. Start out smaller and continue to breakaway from the die. Sometimes you see examples of this:

Thank you John1! And Petespockets! For the information, opinions, time and help. I'll be posting another LMC soon as ht is definitely a Reverse Doubled Die. I have pics, but I'm not satisfied with the quality and lighting. The doubling is elusive, so to speak. It's almost 60 years old lol. Thank y'all again!
