I purchased an old 1788 Vermont copper that is listed within PCGS Coin Facts as a 1/2 P copper. What does the 1/2 (P) stand for?

It's obviously not 'cent' so what term was used for these coins such that PCGS notes them as such?

Probably halfpenny, they were based on the British halfpenny but that wasn't actuallly the denomination, they were just coppers.
