Is the feature raised or sunken (incuse)? A closer-in shot might help.

I was thinking a dropped R until the closer pics. I think it's damage as well.

Just like moved snow, the affected area has raised above the fields and incuse into the coin. So metal movement happened because of the incuse marks on the coin. Just as mentioned, damage to the coin. (Post strike damage)

I agree with damage.
