Would it be good to wrap some of my coins in GLAD Cling Wrap, for long term storage? I have done this with some of my coins already but I am still not sure if it is good for the coins. Thanks

When I went through my grandfather's collection, there were a few coins that had been wrapped in cling wrap for at least 25 years. They all looked terrible, with lines and color gradations and a filmy look and, well, just look below. The toning lines on the reverse match creases in the plastic wrap.

Cling wrap would be a very bad idea. I would suggest archival safe flips, row boxes, and a temperature controlled storage environment. If you're storing the coins in the attic or garage where temperature is not controlled, nothing will help. For the most part, keeping them cool and dry will go a long way toward keeping them safe.

Thanks Everyone. I guess I will take all the coins that I already put in plastic wrap out. Thanks again.

is it a good idea if you have a food saver to vacuum seal the coins?

I personally see little reason to go through the expense or trouble, but then again some might disagree.

Stay away from plastic wrap, foil, wax paper, even paper bags. I'm with coppercoins, archival safe materials only!
