Hello,
I have a 1875 cc Trade dollar that is chopped. This is my first Trade dollar. I am comfortable grading other coins, but when learned about the Trade dollars, being chopped is a desirable trait to some collectors. I am not sure now to arade and value this coin. would appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you.

AU details, chopmarks, cleaned
They've been selling (full retail) around $550-$600 w/AU details and chopped at auction lately, yours is a bit rough in a couple areas so I'd put $400-$450 on it full retail.

The chopmarks resulted in severe damage to this piece and it has been cleaned as noted above. I'd probably go XF Details - Damaged. I found this AU Details piece that sold a few months ago on Heritage for $384 and your piece in raw, damaged condition should be comparable. It almost looks like some silver was removed from the reverse AM in AMERICA.

I personally despise chop marks. But to each his own.

to the CCF

To my eye that mess of chop marks on the obverse center is simply distracting. It's chopped to the point where I call it details damaged.

I don't mind a few chops, but this is kind of mutilated. XF Details (damage and cleaned).
