Note on the affected devices, there is a direction of alteration from
Machine Doubling. Sometimes, when something is wide spread, we forget to check to look for the spread that a doubled die would create:
Machine Doubling is a reduction of the normal size of the devices.
Machine Doubling can happen also on a doubled die.
Why? Because
Machine Doubling is caused post strike and can affect normal/doubled dies the same way. But
Machine Doubling is not a doubled die. A doubled die is caused from a die that has hub doubling.
Only a doubled die, can create a doubled die coin. Machine Doubling is caused by the machines. A doubled die will show spread. Or otherwise they would be,
just a normal die coin.
CoopHome:
Why is spread so important? without spread, the die was normal.
Machine Doubling doesn't produce a spread, it removes contour on design devices.
Machine Doubling is never part of a doubled die.
it can affect the devices on a doubled die, but will not be part of the doubled die.
