Hello everyone, I wonder if you could help me. I think I have here a solid gold Elizabeth 1 sovereign, as per the images in the book a slight difference from the coin, it appears to have a coat of arms.the one in the book doesn't. Is anyone able to confirm either way and tell me what this coin is and any history about it. Really appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks

May I ask you where did you get the coin? If you don't want to answer I respect that I'm just curious. It looks a little too clean.

Since it's bent do you think you could try to take a couple more pictures from the other side I'm quite interested in it.

Hello zacveritycoinmad. That is truly an interesting find. A method that I have found to be very useful is using Google Lens. Hopefully this can help ID 100% or lead you in the right path. Best of luck!!

I removed my comments because I did not see that Keith12's input. After noticing his input, and checking the link out, I was like, "Spot on man!".

Yeah, in addition to England, these were struck in several places in the Low Countries.
The coin looks like it has been clipped, so unfortunately some of the legends have been removed which makes it more difficult to identify, but we may be able ...
Edit: Yes, the Edward IV attribution looks good. We can see enough of the obverse legend at 1:30 - 4:30 to see the name, and the gothic E on the banner.
Moderators could move to the World Coins forum (the coin is pre-1600)
