My understanding is there were 2 coins of this type found. They were graded at au-58 and one sold for $18k. On the other hand, the copper 1943 penny, of which there have been 40 found , sold for over 300k with a au-58 grade. My question is why doesn't the '82 command a larger premium?

That is a good question, one I do not know the answer to, so I'll be watching to see what comes of this conversation.

(By the way the copper, Denver minted, Small date Lincoln Cent will weigh 3.11 grams, not ounces.

All comes down to the marketplace--what someone is willing to pay.
