I would like to hear some thoughts on where this coin is graded. I thought the quarter had some decent eye appeal. Thanks!

Close to a VF-20...imo
I like that there are no gouges or scratches.

Very nice looking coin. It is correctly graded as the bottom of the headband isn't complete but looks great for the grade. Eye appeal matters and this one has it.

What a coin! very scarce in this grade and condition. I see specks of original luster that I very rarely see in Fine + Barbers is tucked away in the laurel along with beautiful toning and no unsightly hairline scratches across checks. Great striking and the taboo funny blue holder adds to its desirability what a sleeping beauty!
Let's face it you could look at 100 of these out there raw and maybe 20 would be original and of that maybe 2-3 would have the character of this one i.m.o undervalued underappreciated sleeper date mintmark and series. Check out the value 60 bucks...bhaaa ya right good luck finding one like this for 60 LOL.
If you got a wild hair and cracked it out and sent it to PCGS what could stop this one from VF-20?

Yes, I was surprised at the trace luster that was still tucked away. It pops fairly well when you roll the coin through light.

I did have to pay more than $60. Most examples I found in the $60-&70 range did not interest me at all. My plan for this coin is to put it away for a few years.

This holder is considered the 8.2, the second generation of the blue holders.

The first generation of blue you had the 7.0 - 7.1 - 7.2

The second generation of blue you had 8.0 - 8.1 - 8.2

The 8.0 holder was used for raw coins coming in for grading.

The 8.1 & 8.2 was only used for coins that came in for a re-holder, that were originally in the first generation 7.0/7.1/7.2

The 8.1 & 8.2 are said to be scarce, with the 8.2 to be more scarce than the 8.1

without seeing the slab I had it at F15 as well albeit a nice one. I think its a tad short of 20

I'm surprised at the F15, I would have said F12 obv / VG8 rev net VG10

Eye appeal is strong, it's a choice coin no matter what number you put on it

Here's one of my mini-hoard 1904 O examples, a textbook VG-8 raw original its hard for me not to see 4 grades higher in your coin. None of my business but I would have smacked a 100 spot on the table for yours and not looked back. I have a gobb of low grade better dates always on the prowl for 1903, 04, 05, 06 New Orleans. These are addictive I can spot pink blue and grey Barbers 3 and 11/12 feet away LOL!

I'm with Paralyze at VG-10 to F-12. RB says LIBERTY legible. The E & R really aren't. It is a good looking coin, though!
