I guess you could ask how he/she knows it is authentic (and also who filed down the nail hole )

I lean towards this coin being a very overpriced genuine holed 1R. Metal detecting is one of my other hobbies and square nails are a very common find at older sites.

I have a lot of holed coins on my key ring, but none of them is holed as perfectly as this one. This cull coin belongs in the cull tub priced at $5.
