I think it might be a normal 1972 s, but looks a little off. Thought I'd better check before disregarding it. I don't see any markers for the varieties listed in CC or Wexler. THANKS

Not sure, there's only a couple it can be. http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php Check out 003. It has the tail on the 2. Ck markers.

Just the normal master die doubling for that year.
1972-S-DDO-Help-Please
50% of the cents that year had the MDD (Master Die Doubling) that year from all three mints. The Listing on coppercoins shows a wider spread on that affected area. (Note the above link to see it)
