I will try this forum next. No response on VAMS. These are the seller's images. Claims MS-63. It is mine now, high bid. I usually lose on auctions but learn a little along the way for the next one. If this generates any intrest, I will post images in hand for further opinions. I am not a VAM man. I am a silver stacker. But I have a weakness for Peace dollars from my youth. I am hoping to get some grade opinions and would be glad to exchange for bullion to a VAM guy. gut. I think a later die stage as upper crack goes thru and beyond hair bun. I am hoping some one hears me. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Too much flashback to see field details clearly.

For context a VAM 2n is... 1922-P VAM-2N Die Gouge in Hair Discovered by Bill Van Note, February 2000. 2N II 1 · B2a (Die Gouge in Hair) I-3 R-6 Obverse II 1- Horizontal die gouge in hair behind eye Agree the glare makes it almost impossible to tell if you have that VAM.

Agree the provided images make grading difficult. Yet they are adequate enough to identify the VAM if you reference VAM World for the correct attribution. As the title states, 1922 D, not 1922 P. 1922 D VAM-2N is an exact match.

The coin looks MS but with these photos that's the best guess.

grade wise MS62 maybe 63. if thats a scratch behind the head then the coin may not grade straight. I think thats a die break at the bottom of the neck

Thank you all for the input. I will have it in hand next week and provide improved images eliminating the glare hopefully. Purchased as MS-63 raw. Panzaldi, In. response to your reply, I can assure you, that is not a scratch behind the head. It is another die break. It is a definite characteristic of this VAM. As I stated earlier, I am not a VAM man but for sure,a Peace dollar guy from the hippy days. Anything that was peace was cool. Yes, I was a capitalist hippy. There more of us than you'd think. Anyways, back to the subject. I am sending images from VAN World. Some will probably say, image overkill. That is fine. Just know that my investigation skills have been honed here. I do the research before I ask. Hope you can bear with me. Here we go. Notice that the break behind these lower hair curls has now extended thru the hair bun completely leading to my conclusion this is a VLDS. I am looking forward to your thoughts out there.

Lovely example of a scarcer Peace VAM. Once you get in-hand shots it will be easier to grade.

with your blowups I can see that its a die crack. hard to tell on your original photo due to shadowing in that area

Thanks for the response from all. The blowups are provided by VAM World example, not the original images. I used their attribution to identify the one I bid on. The sellers images were clear enough for me to identify the attribution. I hope to have it in hand in a few days and will update. Thanks all.
