I found this in my change and I'm looking for an explanation as to what it is. The entire reverse is like this and the obverse is not affected by the issue at all. It's kind of like weird flow lines.

Looks plated or at the very least chemically altered.

Don't let the color change in the third picture trick you, it's just the difference in the light I used to get more detail to show up in the picture. The coin is dirty but mostly red brown.it weighs 2.5 grams. There's no difference in the rim that might indicate chemicals. That's all the details I can add.

We have seen a cent just like this one just yesterday.
Some folks said it was altered by heat - (I was one of them)
others said it was altered by a soft wire brush on a drill moving the metal a bit.
Let me go find that topic for you.
But this one was a copper cent not a zinc plated copper cent.

I think in your case on the reverse could just be a bad plating issue due to the underlying zinc core not getting a good wash and had zinc dust on it.

My first guess is a plating issue, and second guess is a chemical of some kind got on it. PMD either way not an error.

I've seen a ton of zincolns (especially earlier zincolns like this) that have lines in fields just like this one does. It's because of zinc dust getting plated over poorly, and doesn't add any additional value because it's exceedingly common and IMO kinda ugly.
