Hey folks

These are the 3 books I'm considering purchasing.

1. "The Flying Eagle and Indian cent Attribution Guide" 3rd Ed. By Richard Snow

2. "Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace dollars"

Is there anything in these books worth noting that I cannot learn from the indianvarieties & VAM websites?

Also looking to purchase the Walter Breen's Complete encyclopedia of U.S. and colonial coins

Do you recommend these or are they dated?

Thanks

I have all 3 of them, great resources, I like and prefer books over just digital editions as I have them always, and I'm not having to rely on internet service and power.

All three a slightly dated but still useful IMO. The least of the useful is the VAM book, as so many new varieties are updated and not many of them are photographed well in the book, Use vamworld.com for the latest and great photos.

Rick Snow's book is fantastic, I constantly refer to it and the PDF file I got from him as a founding backer on the book project.

Breen's complete encyclopedia can be found on the cheap if you wait and are diligent in searching. My last copy was only $35 on ebay. While Breen (not with standing his horrible past history) is one of the greatest numismatic researchers that lived, wrote an all encompassing book covering so much scale (yes it has it's problems with errors and falsifications) but overall it is an insurmountable task that he completed it as it stands still today. An amazing achievement. Worth being in every serious numismatists library.

I purchased many books from Breen's library that now reside in my own library, most are not annotated unfortunately, those copies go for crazy money. his personal use encyclopedia, recently sold at a Kobe & Fanning Auction for $37,500.00! Here is David showing it off and discussing it pre auction:
