My god, is this yours?

It looks absolutely new! I guess about $15-$22K would be about right. You should send it in to be graded!

Quote:
Although they are still technically legal tender in the United States, high-denomination bills were last printed in 1945 and officially discontinued on July 14, 1969, by the Federal Reserve System.[1] The $5,000 and $10,000 effectively disappeared well before then: there are only about 200 $5,000 and 300 $10,000 bills known, of all series since 1861.

Were there 2 types of reverses for this note?

Yes it is mine and it is in great condition. No pinholes etc. What is the best way to get something like this graded? I dont feel comfortable letting it out of my hands. I guess because it is so rare, it is hard to find info on the bill. If there are only 200 left, what is it worth?

Thanks for your replies.

http://www.pmgnotes.com/ Is basically NGC for notes

And about the value, at that condition I wouldn't sell it unless I was seriously at my last step.

The Official Blackbook Price Guide to U.S. Paper Money 2008, 40th Edition lists:

F - $8,000
VF - $28,000
UNC - $55,000

Prices aren't a true reflection of it's worth but it will at least give you an idea.

Can you post a larger scan or pic of the note?

I can tell you one thing, DONT EVER let that thing go unless you cant have kids and there is no way to pass it down....Think about it now, that note might be worth 20k...but I'd rather say I have 1 out of 200 or w/e and a higher grade 5000 dollar note, then your kids say They made 5k notes? and then bam the history lesson begins :P

Wow--incredible note! I think the only way to submit that to a TPG is through a show--and direct to their vault.
I would be too worried to ship that, there have been thefts.
