Opinions - is it worth the spend? Even with one of my vouchers it will be $60 plus my ship out cost. I'm inclined to leave as is but I have a friend who swears to the value add of getting a First Strike stamp.

I assume you are talking about buying this coin and sending it in to be graded yourself? The fees would be expensive, not worth it for one coin. Some do collect the special labels, but they are common, not rare. It looks like the coin is the proof silver eagle? What is more important is the grade, a MS70 will be worth more than a MS69 or lower. Shop the major online dealers to find the best deal, sometimes these are on sale.

You could use ebay sold listings search. Type in previous years silver eagles, compare prices of the slabbed/graded ones to ones not graded.

If you want a graded/slabbed silver eagle, buy one that's already in the slab.

Common label designations like First Strike, Early Releases do not add a lot of value to the coin, as I said the grade is more important than the label.

Use the CCF search line, type First Strike and you'll find several posts about these labels.

I actually just received the coin yesterday from the mint, it is a proof. Just wondering if it is worth the spend for getting it slabbed and tagged 1st strike. I decided to punt, the amount of $$$ flowing into grading seems over the top.

Some of the auctions I watch really leave me scratching my head with the coins holdered - and they sell at auction for under 5 bucks.

The majority come in at 69 so the cost of slabbing is a real gamble. Enjoy it as is.
