I never got my Quebec Toonies. You may remember the discussion last year about how difficult it was to get rolls of them. Andre1621 got some and put a couple of coins away for me. He seems to have dropped off commenting on this Forum while I had computer problems. Since I got a new computer, I have sent a few emails which have gone unanswered and it appears the money I sent over for them and some other RCM products last year has gone also. No replies and no coins. :-(

Any know if he is sick, out of action or something?

I hate when this happens to me, or anyone. What Canadian city does he live in? Maybe someone here can visit him for you. Maybe his email/address has changed? Try a phonecall or a letter. Is he an ebay member? I will help you if I can. I don't know your payment method, and it appears(since you mention "last year") that any claim of sorts has expired. Can you receive the cancelled money order/check/whatever to verify an address? At least you can find out where he does his banking> Maybe not fraud, but these types of things get me blood all angried up. I been there and done that, and I'm lucky with recoveries... so far.

>>>edit>>> googled for you. Looks to be quite active...

Thanks IBGolden. He use to post regularly here until September. I sent him C$100 by PayPal last year along with my address so there should have been no reason not to send what I had paid for even when my computer crashed. I have emailed him and sent message to him on ebay but no replies. It is possible I have his address on my old computer but it just will not boot up or if it does, it crashes before I can open my old mail messages. I know he is still active on ebay so will try a few more times to contact him.

It just seems ashame. RCM will not take orders from Australia, so what does one do, especially regarding the 2010 Winter Olympics quarters and dollars. Even the Aussie dealers can't get them. Offers and ebay seem only options for may CAN issues.

Your PayPal record only shows an email address without the physical address? I don't know if you purchased from ebay... but you can request sellers information if you do (and they get your address).

Your email provider should retain your messages(provided you didn't upload then delete); accessable on any computer.

I always print out info on purchases when I suspect somethings up or too long has passed, cuz if a dispute ever arises the ebay completed listing aren't accessable for more than 90 days. If I can help further let me know. He does appear reputable though. It looks like you'll be able to work it out. Bonne chance!

It wasn't ebay purchases with this person. It was a transfer of money using PayPal to pay for Canadian coins this person had put aside for me such as the Petro Canada 25c issues, the $2 400yrs Quebec and others.

Hi IBGolden

Unfortunately with my email it is downloaded from the service provider to my computer and the SP then has no record. At present they are all trapped on the old computer.

Whatever was arranged with andre1621 was done here through this Forum and then followed up by email exchanges and forum messages.

Silvermaple, thanks, I will have a look at your ebay site.

Regards to all,
Wayne

Good news, after another message sent, he has contacted me and still has my coins. Hopefully there will be not further problems. Thanks for all your support.

Found my first of these in circulation this week as well, nice understated design. A lot of RCM designs are just too busy or otherwise ugly but they haven't done too bad lately with coins like this and the olympic quarters. If I came across a fresh roll of these at the bank I would hang on to them for sure.

I mentioned the scarcity of these to a coin dealer yesterday. She claims that most of these were sent by the Mint right to Quebec instead of being distributed through the rest of the country evenly. I have my doubts about this, though.

Mind you, she did have a nice one for sale that she was willing to give me for $4.50.

I turned her down flat; seemed a bit opportunistic of her, I thought.

That's exactly what the mint did and is it's the same thing they're doing with the Montreal Canadiens loonie right now. Lucky for me I have a relative who lives in Ottawa and picked me up a couple rolls.

Just last week I got my first one from circulation in North Vancouver. It came from someone who was from Quebec, and had dinner at a Persian restaurant in West Vancouver, operated by people in my family. My son saw the twonie, and grabbed it for me!

I have yet to see the 400 Quebec loonie and probably won't see the Habs one either.
